This poster was created specifically for an IMAX exclusive fan event where audiences were treated to a behind the scenes documentary about the making of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune as well as a brand new trailer for the film in advance of its official release. 

Dozens of initial comps with varying styles, color palettes, and compositions were presented from the studio’s agency partner, and systematically pared down until a clear direction emerged. Every detail of that design was then tweaked and finessed to match the film’s look and feel, and to subtly convey how the scope, scale, and visual drama of Dune is amplified on IMAX screens.
